A comprehensive assessment of the main cities of the Eastern Province (Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee) and the Northern Province (Jaffna) of Sri Lanka was undertaken. It included the following
- Rapid City Assessment – preparation of a social and economic diagnostic for the four cities in the Eastern and Northern Provinces based on existing documents and data. A literature review with supplemental interviews were undertaken
- Policy Notes and Action Plans – Policy Notes which identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and potential threats to development and sustainability of each city were authored.
Learning Activities – Three workshops were conducted to bring regional and international perspectives, disseminate results, and to fine tune Policy Notes completed under task (II)
