The project entails the design, rehabilitation/improvement/maintenance of the Ja-Ela to Puttalam (126 km), Awissawella to Pelmadulla (63 km), and Pelmadulla – Padalangala (73.5 km) national roads under the OPRC contract format.
Objectives and Process – The consultants were required to;
Prepare a Resettlement Action plan to present the project area and the impacts of any land acquisition for project civil works, to present the entitlement policy for compensation and assistance to the project-affected persons, and present an action plan for the delivery of the compensation and assistance to those affected Carry out a social impact assessment to provide the minimum information on the social impacts of the project, to verify the legal boundaries of the ROW and to provide the socioeconomic baseline information required for preparation of the entitlement framework.
