Consulting Services for Resettlement Action Planning (RAP) for the Construction of Kolonnawa Canal Diversion Sub Project of Metro Colombo Urban Development Project

The World Bank Supported the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project (MCUDP) in one of many initiatives to meet the demand for increasing urban spaces in the Colombo Metropolitan region. The project is focusing on urban flood reduction and disaster mitigation. The project which commenced in 2012 is guided by the Social Management Framework (SMF) which outlines the policies and approaches of the Bank and the Government of Sri Lanka to safeguard the rights and interests of persons affected by the various development programs.

The main objective for this engagement as stated by MCUDP is the engagement of a consultant to carry out a social impact survey and prepare the RAP for the Kollonnawa sub-project. This would translate into key task areas as follows

1. Social impact assessment
2. Entitlement eligibility verification
3. Public Consultation
4. Resettlement Action Plan
5. Prepare LSA Plan
