Design Review and Construction Supervision of   DEDURU OYA Water Supply Project [EDCF Funded]

The Project area covers Mahawa and Polpithigama Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) situated in the Northern part of Kurunegala District of north Western Province of Sri Lanka.The project aims to provide safe drinking water to residents in the project areas, where  most people are affected with CKDu,                Furthermore, the project can contribute

  1. To improve the living condition.
  2. To promote economic prosperity as preserving the environment through provision of safe drinking water.
  3. To provide safe drinking water facilities to CKDu affected people in the area

The project components are:

  • Intake to extract raw water 34,500 m3/day and pumping station with minimum output capacity of 16,500 m3/day of raw water to be extracted from the Deduru Oya reservoir.
  • Raw water main from Deduru Oya reservoir intake to water treatment plant including surge arresting system, suitable line flushing and flow measuring devices etc.
  • Water treatment plant of treated water capacity of 15,000 m3/day
  • Treated water Transmission mains of total length 46km approx.
  • Three numbers of elevated towers (  Nagollagama of capacity 750m3, Mahawa of capacity 1000 m3  and Polpithigamaof capacity 1500 m3 )
  • Distribution system to cater Mahawa and Polpithigama of total length 266km approx.
  • Office buildings and staff Quarters
