Detailed Design in Relation to the Construction of New Ward Complex and Remodeling of Existing Facilities of the Korea-Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital to be Implemented in Matara District, Sri Lanka

The Korea- Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital at Godagama, Matara was built with Co-Funding of Korean International Cooperation agency (KOICA) and Government of Sri Lanka, and officially declared open in March 2013. This hospital was not fully utilized for the  last three years. Currently, it is observed that there are many defects in the hospital due to poor quality materials used and bad workmanship during constructions. KOICA has signed a record of discussion with Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine (MOH) and agree to fund the rehabilitation of existing hospital building and extension of the building to accommodate Maternity and neo natal facilities. Together with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine (MoH), KOICA in-tends to initiate the next phase of the project which is to relocate the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) and Neonatology departments from the Matara General Hospital to the Korea-Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital
